From Project Runway, to her way...Leanne Marshall Season Five Winner of Project Runway
For those who follow Heidi Klum and Tim Gun's hit show, you should know the name Leanne Marshall, the most recent alum to the Project Runway winners. The wedding dress she designed was so inspiring and elegant I wanted to go find husband just so i could wear it, but unfortunately someone else will have the privilege of walking down the aisle in her champagne silk taffeta gown. Also, the aqua blue silk organza gown will make any ordinary girl feel like a princess. I loved how down to earth Marshal was in the interview and is currently a resident in New York City using all of the money won from the show to her fashion line. Here is a link to her website
Juicy Couture; now a resident of the Upper East Side
For the past couple of years the ever so popular Juicy Couture brand which started the phenomena of stamping JUICY on the back side of sweatpants, has shifted from track suits into a more sophisticated style. From the west coast of LA to the east coast of NYC, Juicy Couture has the honor of having a Fifth Avenue address along side the most well known and popular fashion contenders in the business, ( Bergdorf Goodmans, Barneys, Channel, Prada, and so many more...) What's even better than the clothes in the store, is the doll house gone rock n roll styled environment. It gives off the appeal of an Alice in Wonderland reality instead of a dream. Celebrities such as Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Lisa Loeb, and Jason Lewis attended the opening.
The rebellious rock n roll trend
After devouring the new trends that Elle has dictated to its readers, ( Bright Colors, Western, and pale romantic textures, ) The look I fell in love with was the rock n roll spread. A Balmain white tutu mini dress with a La Perla bustier makes this look edgy yet elegant. Now this isn't a look that one can wear to the supermarket, but for more of a fancier affair. Doused in silver jewelry and paired with an Alexander Wang leather jacket, this look is inspiring.
This issue is definitely a page turner, but heres the online website in case you want to access it in a quicker way
Eden, really fun post--your prose pops! I love the doll house gone rock n roll description. Dumb question: is the target audience for Juicy, teenage girls? As for supermarket attire, I think I've seen everything in NJ! That reminds me of girls in my college who would wear pearls (real) with their sweats. Really.
ReplyDeletehahah, well the juicy brand used to be targeted to younger girls but now i see women as old as 40 or 50 wearing juicy couture track suits, even babies and toddlers have a pair of juicy sweatpants... so now a days EVERYONE wears it
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fabulous post... it's really relatable for me.. especially since I am an avid watcher of Project Runway.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Siobhan.. your writing in this post is really fantastic and fun to read. It's catchy, but not in an obnoxious way.
ReplyDeletethank you robin....how long have you been a fan of project runway
ReplyDeleteI am really impressed. Eden, you really know your stuff. While, unlike Robin, this post doesn't quite relate to me, I can say that your poll on the left kinda does. I don't really shop, but I do love my Oakley sunglasses!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this post as I'm a fan of Project Runway and Juicy. i agree that your titles summed up each paragraph beautifully and I look forward to reading your own opinions about what you liked about the various magazines. <3
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emma and also like I said in your Cosmopolitan February Issue article, the titles summed in short paragraphs make your article easy and fun to read.
ReplyDeleteawww thank you =)
ReplyDeleteyea i try and make it as easy to understand since some, (like jeff or mike) might not be able to follow as well as the girls
True, Elle as a fashion mag, is more interesting to girls then guys. I also want to add that your posts have made me want to rethink my cancellation of my subscription to this magazine. I used to subscribe but then switched to Vanity Fair and Marie Claire. Lol....your posts are advertisements for new subscribers. : ) <3
ReplyDeleteEmma, maybe Eden should be on Elle's payroll! (Or a link from their web version of the magazine to Eden's blog...I love that idea :)
ReplyDeleteHey, I love Project Runway, too! But I hated it when Jeffrey (tattoo on neck guy) won. What a mean jerk.
I love how the girls are the first to write something....lolz
ReplyDeleteEden your articles get better and better...maybe you can make an article on guy fashion?.....i would like to see that up....also casn u put up pictures of the stuff your describing? I like pictures
juan thats actually a really good suggestion, sometimes the magazines have a special "guy report" i will most deff look for something like that, thanks for the suggestion
