If I had to pick just one..........

Out of all the fashion magazines out on stands today, I would have to say Elle is my all time favorite. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading all of the fashion magazines, but every issue of Elle is interesting, fresh, and new. Vogue's issue's can get repetitive sometimes, and I'm not crazy about some of their writers. A word I would also use to describe Vogue is over rated. I feel over the years, (maybe this is because of Anne Wintour's fierce reputation,) that people think they are the main fashion magazine, but I find that sometimes their writting isn't as good. Harpers Bazaar is pretty good as well, but I found they aren't as "fashiony." I believe Elle is very up and coming and they alway shave a nice mixture of fashion, current events, celebrity interviews, and general studies.

  1. That's interesting that Vogue gets more attention...probably that's why I thought it was the big fashion mag. Anne Wintour...is this who that movie was based on? Last year, the one about the young woman who goes to work for this AWFUL woman who is the Editor of a big fashion mag, and of course she's a mess in her personal life (cliche). And speaking of media reps of fashion mags, when Carrie writes a column and Candace Bergen is the editor, is that supposed to be Vogue??

  2. Devil Wears Prada is the name of the film, and yes, I think it was based on her. I used to subscribe to Vogue but, I agree with Eden in that it wasn't all that great. I found Elle to be much more interesting; plus Elle had articles about fashion trends too. With Vogue, I felt as if I was paying 15 bucks for a bunch of pictures and only pictures. <3

  3. What exactly are the difference between the articles in the magazines, since I don't really know?

  4. Also, I kind of like a lot of pictures in mine. Do they have mostly pictures for ads or pictures to go along witharticles, or celebrities and such?

  5. It sounds to me like you're quite passionate about fashion magazines. I've never even heard of Elle.

  6. Robin- the articles inside the magazines can range anymore from the latest trend to health reports or interviews, and each have a good amount of pictures

  7. Well Jeff reading magazines is less stressful than studying for various tests or writting papers, so in my limited down time I prefer to read fashion magazines.

  8. I feel the same way, except for hard journalism. I bring myself back down to earth through The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, CNN.com, Yankees.com, Giants.com, NFL.com, MLB.com, ESPN.com, CBSSportsline.com, and many, many others

  9. I want Eden to do a little IR (investigative reporting) on one of those Bride magazines...I'm curious about them. They're enormous and I think mostly about (bridal) fashions.

My down time is in front of the TV if I'm really exhausted, since I read all day at work. I can really go into a vegetative state!

  10. I love to read magazines and books too on my down time....or when I procrastinate (which, I never do..lol). Elle, Vanity Fair, and Cosmpolitan are my favorite but I've recently gotten into Marie Claire. It would be interesting to read an article about a bride mag. <3

  11. Marie Claire is British, right? Eden, do you read that? Might be cool to hear about the British/Euro take on fashion. Also, Hello! magazine from England is full of pictures of people at parties, horse races (wearing huge hats). Fun.
